Meet the Crown Keepers
At Haddrell's our knowledge and skills have been passed down from one generation to the next. The art of beekeeping has been refined by our team since 1993 when Haddrell's was founded.

I started at Haddrell's of Cambridge at the age of 16, when I was learning about beekeeping in high school. I further developed my beekeeping skills on the job working with the Master Beekeeper, Richard Haddrell.
20 years later, I now look after a team of 8 beekeepers, as well as thousands of bees. Fantastic people and bees, we all need each other. I'm passionate about sharing my knowledge and experience with others. On the job, safety is always the most important.
I love the bees and outdoors, it takes you to some amazing places. In my free time I fish whenever I can get a chance.
Beekeeping is extremely rewarding and continuously evolving and throwing up challenges, which I just love. One day, I look forward to becoming a Master Beekeeper myself, to have the industry know that the best beekeepers in NZ are trained by Steve.

Hello everyone, I started my beekeeping career in the year 2000, working not only in New Zealand, but also in Australia, Canada and Philippines. I've been at Haddrell's since 2013. I really prefer working outdoors than in an office, makes me feel more connected with nature. At work I care for thousands of queen bees, to ensure they are healthy and well fed. Working at Haddrell's of Cambridge offers a great degree of flexibility, and the people I work with are very friendly. I feel I have learnt a lot on the job. Outside work I also have my own 30 or so beehives to look after.

I have worked at Haddrell's of Cambridge for since 2011. Coming from a family with an apicultural background, I joined Haddrell's as a Junior Beekeeper. Now, I am responsible for managing our beekeeping operations and the supply chain. I enjoy working in an ever-changing environment; each season is unique with its own set of challenges. Beekeeping is never the same, and the exciting part of my job is seeing the remote places in New Zealand where we take our hives for mānuka collection, places that the average person will never get to see."

With a background in Mechinical Engineering and IT System Analysis, I love the problem-solving aspects of any job. I have been Honey Production Manager since 2011, looking after the processing and retail packaging of our honeys. I head a team of dedicated staff, who are all passionate about what they do. We are fortunate to work in a state-of-the art facility which ensures that our products are of the highest quality.

Hello, the thesis topic for my Master of Chemistry degree was mānuka honey. After graduating I started my professional career with one of the key independent labs that analyses mānuka honey.
The world of honey has captivated me on a fascinating journey; its seemingly simple nature conceals a wealth of undiscovered wonders. My time at Haddrell’s has instilled in me a deep respect for the team's ability to harvest quality honey amidst an ever-changing environment. Learning from my peers has been invaluable; their enthusiasm and willingness to share knowledge makes my time here incredibly rewarding. I thrive on diving into data to uncover meaningful patterns and driving ongoing improvement through thoughtful decisions.
My love for both food and efficiency drives my dedication to my role. I enjoy finding and trying new food products from supermarkets, and I appreciate when things work smoothly.

After studying for a degree in Sports Health, I found my passion in beekeeping. After ten years as Senior Beekeeper at Haddrell's of Cambridge, leading a team of 12 beekeepers, as well as managing all the beekeeping tools and vehicles, in 2023 I progressed to become the Apiary and Logistics Manager. I enjoy being a leader, working with the team to produce a good harvest of honey at the end of each season. My goal is to expand the numbers of hives we currently own, and develop my beekeeping skills especially in disease control. In my spare time, I love to go fishing, golfing and socialising with friends. Haddrell's of Cambridge is 100% real NZ Mānuka Honey, come and see us!

I studied Bachelor of Science in Agricultural Engineering in the Philippines. I found beekeeping in 2010 through a friend, discovered my deep interest in it and have been a beekeeper since.
I've been a beekeeper in New Zealand since 2012 and with Haddrell's since 2018. I like my role here because it gives me heaps of room to grow as a person.
I love beekeeping and the challenges that it brings every season. It polishes my skills and teaches me some more. To keep the bees going and reaching goals despite the unpredictable challenges in every single factor makes me feel I have an accomplishment.
I like learning from other people, and I do enjoy mentoring people who have the same interests.
In my spare time, I like to go outdoors and do the things it offers – may it be fishing, hiking, mountain biking, skiing, etc.
